Alabama Sheriffs Association
The Alabama Sheriffs Association has been the voice of Alabama's Sheriffs for over 100 years. Instituted in 1889, the association was created for mutual protection and enforcement of laws. The purpose of the association shall be to encourage social, charitable, and educational activities among the Sheriffs; to continue the education of the various Sheriffs and their Deputies within the State of Alabama in all phases of law enforcement practice, procedure, and technique; to resist efforts to curtail law enforcement within the State of Alabama; to educate the public in the observance of law and order; and to do any and all things to promote the enforcement of law and order and the suppression of crime. The association is committed to fostering the effectiveness of the Office of Sheriff through education, training, communication, innovative practices, and legal assistance.
Alabama Sheriffs Foundation
The Alabama Sheriffs Foundation is a 501(c)( 3) organization established as the charitable arm of the Alabama Sheriffs Association to give citizens, businesses, and organizations the opportunity to support Alabama's Sheriffs through partnerships and special programs. The mission of the Alabama Sheriffs Foundation is to provide assistance to the Sheriffs of Alabama in ways that are not available through county funding alone. The Foundation will help provide public awareness and education for the citizens of Alabama to support public safety and, thus, improve the quality of life for all citizens. The Foundation's desire is to promote the betterment of law enforcement in Alabama, to contribute to community safety, and to prepare future law enforcement leaders by providing up to five scholarships per year to Sheriff's Office employees and/or their children. Donations to the Alabama Sheriffs Foundation are tax deductible under IRS guidelines.
